A VAN AND A DREAM

2003 Chevrolet Astro Panel Van

A nondescript white fan in front of a fence.

Best car I’ve owned to this day: a white 2003 Chevrolet Astro cargo van. I bought this van for 7k from a Chevy dealer around 2005 when I was still in college. Had an aftermarket radio with a little 8” sub for my booty but otherwise the thing was stock American muscle. I drove this thing everywhere from the Mississippi east; got it stuck in ditches, impounded, tagged, donuts, burnouts, lived in it, moved bikes, motorcycles and too many couches.

A white vehicle with a badly cracked (nearly shattered) windshield.
A white long-sleeved shirt with the words "The Heartbeat of America."

Fun fact: When the Mercedes Cargo Metris came out in 2016 they had a pamphlet that compared it to the Chevy Astro, a van that hadn’t been in production since 2003. True legends never die.

A yellow envelope with the Chevrolet logo that reads "memo book" in the upper-right corner.
A small photo with a green frame.
A salt-stained and snow-covered bumper of a white car.

In the end, around 2015, I put 125k miles on it. I would have never sold it if it weren’t for a ton of rust… everything ends at some point, gotta enjoy this ride.
