There’s no comparison to the music that guides us through our summers, our favorite tunes and the albums stuck on replay. Following a melody that can be felt in your bones and is palpable in all facets of life, our songs and hum-alongs are the guiding light in our most intimate moments. Realized on the dark-blue-sky–and-black-heel nights—a feeling felt throughout your body, your ears, your midnight melodies. We connect to albums harder in the summer; maybe it’s the longer days that make them feel better, filled with uber activity and experiences. Maybe it’s the weather, the drinks, the holidays. Hey, I'm still trying to make sense of it all myself! Which is exactly why I began this weekly album project three summers ago.
It was a theory, really: a proof of concept that needed to be tested. I wanted to guide my summers off of a few consistent melodies, instruments and vocal chords that could instruct and soothe all of my lazy days. It also can not be understated how important and integral my good friend and creative comrade Izzy Fradin was in this process. Without her musical depth and knowledge, there would be no way I could have single handedly reached this far into different genres and cross sounds. However, the sounds are there—which was always what I wanted this project to be. Understanding the base of genres and album concepts, feeling more, and listening double as much.
So, let’s get into it.
